This week the Horizon Europe research project ALGAESOL was kicked-off at NORCE in Bergen/Norway.
The ALGAESOL project officially began with a two-day kickoff meeting hosted by NORCE in Bergen, Norway, bringing the consortium partners together for the first time. From 2–3 July 2024, the team met to review the project framework, clarify roles, and establish a shared understanding of the work ahead in developing sustainable fuel pathways for aviation and maritime applications.
Throughout the meeting, partners discussed the project’s technical direction, milestones, and collaborative workflows. The sessions provided a platform to address early questions, explore interfaces between work packages, and define how the consortium will coordinate efforts over the coming years. The open and constructive discussions helped set the tone for transparent communication and effective teamwork.
A highlight of the kickoff was the visit to the Technology Center and the Algae Pilot in Mongstad, where large-scale microalgae cultivation and testing for the project will take place.
The successful kickoff meeting laid a strong foundation for ALGAESOL, strengthening cooperation across the consortium and preparing the team for the next steps in advancing innovative, algae-based solutions for sustainable fuels.
